Council highlights from the meeting held on July 20, 2026
Mayor and Council have declared July 19 – 25, 2026 as “National Drowning Prevention Week” in the District of Kent.
Means of Production will be filming in the District of Kent on July 19, 2026. Filming will be located on Appel Road between Dike Road and Macdonald Road, from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, as well as Park Street from 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Traffic on the Agassiz-Rosedale Highway at Park street will also be impacted). These locations will have intermittent vehicular traffic closures during the listed hours.

The District of Kent’s annual burning ban continues to be in effect until October 1, 2026. In addition, campfires will also be prohibited effective noon on July 16, 2026 to align with the upcoming Category 1, 2, and 3 Camp Fire Prohibition along the Coastal Fire Centre jurisdiction.

The District of Kent, and the Eastern Fraser Valley, has been issued a yellow (high health risk*) air quality warning due to elevated fine particulate matter (PM 2.5). This is due to smoke from the Brunswick Creek wildfire near Boston Bar in the Fraser Canyon.
