With the upcoming Grand Opening (September 2026) of the Lets’emot Regional Recreation and Aquatic  Centre (LRRAC), we are looking to assemble a dynamic team to deliver exceptional services to our region.  This amazing new facility expands our existing recreation centre and features an 8-lane pool, lazy river, steam room, sauna, and hot tub. 


We are seeking a positive, energetic, self-motivated, and team-oriented Aquatic Coordinator to join us. 


Reporting to the Manager of Recreation/Culture & Projects, you will be responsible for the coordination, development, and delivery of aquatic programs and services. This will include planning, scheduling, implementing, and evaluating a range of programs and services that meet community needs, while monitoring participation trends and recommending improvements. 


Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with applicable health and safety regulations, implementing aquatic safety plans and procedures, and coordinating with internal staff to support facility operations and scheduling. The incumbent will train, schedule, and supervise aquatic staff, while providing leadership, guidance, and performance feedback. The role also supports administrative functions, including maintaining records, tracking program activity, and assisting with budget monitoring. The Aquatic Coordinator will demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively while supporting the ongoing development and delivery of aquatic services within the District.


Required qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in aquatics, including experience in program 
    coordination, staff supervision, and facility operations.
  • National Lifeguard Certificate (Pool Option).
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C (or equivalent).
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor.
  • Lifesaving Society Instructor.
  • Pool Operator - Level 1.
  • Lifesaving Trainer, National Lifeguard Instructor, and/or First Aid Instructor would be considered assets.

Pay and benefits for this bargaining unit position will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458. The proposed 2025 post-probationary wage rate for this new position is $37.57/hour. This full-time position includes a comprehensive extended health care benefits package and participation in the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP).

  • Operate, inspect, and maintain pool mechanical systems and water quality.
  • Ensure all aquatic systems comply with health regulations and municipal policies.
  • Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on facility components.
  • Assist with operational and maintenance duties at other municipal buildings and civic facilities as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in pool operations, facility maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience working with aquatic systems and facility maintenance preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • WorkSafeBC Basic First Aid (or equivalent).
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
  • Pool Operator - Level 1 (Level 2 preferred).
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

Pay and benefits for this bargaining unit position will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458. The proposed 2025 post-probationary wage rate for this new position is $32.31/hour. This part time position may also include extended health benefits and participation in the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP), in accordance with the policies of the benefits provider and the MPP.

We are seeking several positive, energetic, self-motivated, and team-oriented Casual Junior Lifeguards to join us.

The Junior Lifeguard position is intended to offer an opportunity for new and aspiring Lifeguards to gain experience that would help them progress to Lifeguard and Lifeguard/Instructor positions as their skills develop. The primary role of the Junior Lifeguard would be to complement the existing Aquatic Team and help to ensure public safety during busy public swim times and special events. Junior Lifeguards work on deck, alongside Lifeguards and Lifeguard/Instructors, with the opportunity to obtain valuable lifeguarding skills and experience.


Under the supervision of the Aquatic Leader, and with the guidance of other Aquatic Team members, the Junior Lifeguards will help ensure the safety and enjoyment of pool patrons.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of six (6) months in an aquatic and/or customer service environment.
  • Current National Lifeguard (NL) - Pool Option.
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (or equivalent).
  • CPR Level (C) Award.


Pay and benefits for this bargaining unit position will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458.
