Sand and Sandbagging Available for Residents - Dec 13, 2025

With current heavy ground saturation and anticipated moderate to heavy precipitation in the region, a self-serve sand and sandbagging station is available for District of Kent residents.

Sand and sandbags are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre located at 6660 Pioneer Avenue behind the livestock pavilion. Residents are required to bring a shovel or a tool to fill the available sandbags with.

Residents are urged to take appropriate precautions to protect their homes with the use of sump pumps and/or sandbags. Please, monitor Environment Canada for weather alerts and DriveBC for highway updates.

Residents should also be mindful of the potential for trees to be downed due to ground saturation. If you witness impacted powerlines, dial 911 immediately and do not approach.
