Proclamation: World Oceans Day

June 1, 2022 - Mayor Pranger declared June 8, 2022, as "World Oceans Day" in support of the global movement to protect 30% of the planet’s lands, waters, and ocean by 2030.

The ocean produces over half of the world's oxygen and absorbs 50 times more carbon dioxide than our atmosphere. The District of Kent encourages everyone to help protect the ocean as a way to improve planetary health and slow the crisis of species collapse and ecosystem decline.
