Proclamation: National Drowning Prevention Week 2026
Mayor and Council have declared July 19 – 25, 2026 as “National Drowning Prevention Week” in the District of Kent.
During the week of July 19, 2026, take the time to learn more about water-related injury through training programs, WaterSmart® public education, drowning research and aquatic safety standards at: https://www.lifesaving.bc.ca
Swimming is an important life skill which is why the District works with local schools to provide seasonal access to the Ferny Coombe Pool. Private and semi-private swimming lessons are also available along with a range of aquatic programs.
The completion of the Lets'emot Regional Recreation & Aquatic Centre will create year-round accessibility for this life skill. Please consider donating to help us fill the pool, every little bit helps. You can donate in person, on the phone, or online at www.kentbc.ca/Fill_the_Pool. All contributors exceeding $25.00 will receive a tax receipt, and donations of $250 or more will also receive commemorative apparel.
