Proclamation: Literacy is Life 2026

Mayor Pranger proclaimed September as “Literacy Month” in the District of Kent. This province-wide campaign, held each September, has three goals: to raise awareness of the importance of literacy for all British Columbians, to raise awareness about community-based resources, and to raise funds to support community-based literacy programs, initiatives, and organizations.

As part of this year’s campaign “Your Gift. Their Next Chapter.” throughout the month of September, people across BC are encouraged to fundraise to support literacy programs in their communities. Find out more about how you can sign up by visiting https://www.literacymonth.ca/
