Proclamation: Literacy is Life 2025

Mayor Pranger proclaimed September as "Literacy Month" in the District of Kent. This province-wide campaign, held each September, has three goals: to raise awareness of the importance of literacy for all British Columbians, to raise awareness about community-based resources, and to raise funds to support community-based literacy programs, initiatives, and organizations.

As part of this year's campaign "Give a Book. Give Literacy." throughout the month of September, people across BC are encouraged to donate books to literacy organizations, literacy-adjacent programs, and other nonprofits in their communities. Find little free libraries in our community using the Little Free Library Map (https://littlefreelibrary.org/map/) to find local kiosks like the ones in Pioneer Park and Shep Park.
