Mayor's Report
Mayor and Council attended the new regional fire training facility grand opening on October 5 at the Agassiz Fire Hall. Councillor Schwichtenberg noted that she is inspired by the hard work of the Agassiz Fire Department members. Mayor Pranger expressed her gratitude to our community partners who helped make the facility possible with their support and the grant contributions they made.

Council's Report
On September 13, all Councillors attended the Agassiz Fall Fair and Corn Festival. Mayor Pranger was unable to attend but expressed that she is so thankful to everyone who participated and to all the volunteers who make the Fall Fair possible, adding that it is the best little fair in the area. Deputy Mayor Spaeti provided the welcoming remarks while Councillor Watchorn was honoured to MC the opening of the fair.

Thanks to the generosity of Councillor Post, Councillor Watchorn was able to participate in the goat milking contest where he had the good fortune to have a very giving goat.

Councillor Spaeti highlighted the upcoming events hosted by the Agassiz Harrison Community Services Society. There will be a "Seniors mobile Café" on October 28 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM which will include visiting pumpkin patches and a Halloween tour. The next Seniors' Lunch will be held on November 12, in Memorial Hall in Harrison Hot Springs.

Foster Family Month Proclamation
Mayor Pranger proclaimed October as Foster Family Month in the District of Kent, she noted how foster caregivers providing homes is truly a work of love. Since 1990, the Government of British Columbia has declared foster family month as a time to celebrate these caregivers, who have committed to protecting and caring for some of our most vulnerable children and youth.

Agassiz Fire Department Society Boat Raffle
On October 11 the winner of the Agassiz Fire Department Society Boat Raffle was drawn, and a total of $18,800 was raised for the Lets'emot Regional Recreation & Aquatic Centre. The donated grand prize of a Marlon Recreational Products 14' utility boat, motor, and trailer were won by Casey Klassen.

Chaplin Road Culvert Completion
Mayor Pranger and Councillor Schwitchtenberg were excited to share news of the new square concrete replacement culvert on Chaplin Road. Along with the Culvert replacement, the District assisted Seabird Island Band and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, helping to refresh the nearby salmon spawning channel.
