Mayor's Report
On September 13, Mayor Pranger was honoured to MC the opening ceremonies of the annual Fall Fair and Corn Festival. All of Council was in attendance with Councillor Watchorn participating and placing first in the goat milking contest. Mayor Pranger also noted that both the Fall Fair and the Terry Fox run, which took place the same weekend, were well attended and she thanked the many volunteers who made both events possible.

Mayor Pranger highlighted the upcoming CPKC Holiday Train which will be visiting the District on December 19, 2025 at 5:45 PM at the train tracks near the Agassiz Agricultural Hall (6800 Pioneer Ave.). Council's Report
Councillor Spaeti noted the upcoming Squash Festival put on by the Agassiz Earthwise Society on October 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Earthwise Agassiz (6031 Golf Rd.). The event will include a squash scavenger hunt, pumpkin painting, story time for kids, and other fall activities. Councillor Schwichtenberg is selling Beef Raffle tickets along with the Agassiz Harrison Museum, their goal is to raise $15,000 which will go towards maintenance of the Museum. The 5th annual Beef Raffle tickets are available directly from Councillor Schwichtenberg or from the Agassiz Harrison Museum at 7011 Pioneer Avenue. Veteran Memorial Crosswalk Request – Delegation
Sergeant-at-Arms Dave Eidet of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #32 presented his request for the assistance of the District of Kent in suppling labour and materials to complete the proposed Veterans memorial crosswalk in the District of Kent. Council requested that staff look into the cost and maintenance needed for this request.

Agassiz-Harrison Rod and Gun Club
The Agassiz-Harrison Rod and Gun Club have presented the District with another donation to the Lets'emot Regional Recreation and Aquatic Centre bringing their total donated to $9,500. Mayor and Council expressed their deep gratitude to the club and its members for their donation and for providing the services they do for our community.
2026 Council Meeting Schedule
Mayor and Council have approved the 2026 Council Regular Meeting schedule. Regular Meetings will be held in Municipal Hall Council Chambers (7170 Cheam Avenue) at 6:00 PM on Mondays (except as shown), the schedule is as follows:

Winter Night Lights
The sixth annual Winter Night lights event is set for December 12 (4:30 – 8:30 PM) and 13 (2:30 – 7:30 PM). Council approved a temporary road closure along Pioneer Avenue between Shoppers Drug Mart and Remedy RX to ensure the event and its activities are safely executed. During the event you can enjoy food trucks, mini train rides, and other fun activities. A full schedule of events will be released closer to the event.
97th British Columbia Youth Parliament
From December 27 to 31, 2025, the British Columbia Youth Parliament will hold its 97th Parliamentary Session in Victoria at the Provincial Legislative Chambers. The Youth Parliament is a province-wide non-partisan organization for individuals aged 16 to 21. It teaches citizenship skills through participation in the parliamentary session in December and continuing in community service activities throughout the year.

Foster Family Month Proclamation
Mayor Pranger proclaimed October as Foster Family Month in the District of Kent, she noted that foster families give a wonderful service to not just kids but families and communities. This will be the 35th Foster Family Month in British Columbia, declaring foster family month as a time to celebrate caregivers, who have committed to protecting and caring for some of our most vulnerable children and youth.
