November 10, 2025 - Council Highlights

Council's Corner

Mayor's Report

Mayor Pranger and Councillor Schwichtenberg attended the October 30 tree planting event at the Hammersley Nature Park. Council previously approved a general structure to allocate provincial funding received under the Local Government Climate Action Plan, of which the Hammersley Nature Park was part of this plan. The initial phase of park development is focused on increasing the tree canopy area.

800 trees were planted during this tree planting event. Thanks to the Fraser Valley Conservancy, District staff, and countless hardworking volunteers. Mayor and Council are excited to see the small forest these trees will grow into in three to five years.

On October 28, 2025, Mayor Pranger was pleased to attend the inaugural Fraser Valley East Inclusive Employer Awards. The Inclusive Employer Awards celebrate local businesses and organizations that go above and beyond to create welcoming, accessible, and empowering workplaces—through hiring, work experience placements, or community advocacy. Two local Agassiz businesses were recognized for their contributions in building diverse, supportive, and accessible work environments: congratulations to Cabin Fever Junction Bakery and Fraser River Lodge!
