National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2025

Municipal Hall and the Agassiz Recycling & Bottle Depot Centre will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We encourage everyone to wear orange on Tuesday to honour and always remember the children that never returned home and the survivors of residential schools.

 

Municipal Hall will re-open Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 8:30 AM.

Local events on September 30 include:

  • Sq'éwqel "Seabird Island Band" is hosting a Truth and Reconciliation Gathering, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM in the Band Office Gym. This event is an opportunity to connect as a community and recognize the strength of survivors of residential schools and day schools.   • Sts'ailes Nation is hosting their fourth annual Walk for Truth and Reconciliation, the 3.5 km walk begins at 9:30 AM at Sasquatch Crossing Eco Lodge (15500 Morris Valley Road) and finishes at the Sandpiper Resort (14282 Morris Valley Road). The event will feature drummers, singers, dancers, and speakers from Sts'ailes, sharing songs of healing and reflection.
