Mayor's Report
On June 16, 2025 Mayor Pranger, Councillor Schwichtenberg, and Councillor Spaeti attended the Agassiz-Harrison Museum Burgers and Brews Fundraiser. This event was well attended, and all funds raised go directly to maintaining the Agassiz-Harrison Museum and their Railroad Speeder. Mayor Pranger also thanked all the volunteers who work hard to keep our Museum running.

Council Report
The grand opening of the Harrison Highlands Park Adventure Playground took place on June 14, 2025. Councillor Post, Councillor Spaeti, Councillor Watchorn, and Mayor Pranger were in attendance to officially cut the ribbon for the Playground was officially cut! Councillor Post hopes that children, and those who think they are children, use it for years to come.

Councillor Spaeti noted the upcoming Big Summer Bash event hosted by the Harrison-Agassiz Chamber of Commerce. The event will be on July 8, 2025 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Homestead Cider in Agassiz. This is a great opportunity to connect with local community members while enjoying live music, great food, and cider. National Drowning Prevention Week
Mayor and Council have officially declared July 20 – 26, 2025 National Drowning Prevention Week in the District of Kent. So far in BC & the Yukon there have been 13 drownings in 2025. During the week of July 20, 2025, take the time to learn more about water-related injury through training programs, WaterSmart® public education, drowning research and aquatic safety standards at: https://www.lifesaving.bc.ca
Swimming is an important life skill which is why the District works with local schools to provide seasonal access to the Ferny Coombe Pool. Private and semi private swimming lessons are available at the Ferny Coombe Pool along with a range of aquatic programs. The completion of the Lets'emot Regional Recreation & Aquatic Centre will create year-round accessibility for this life skill. Please consider donating to help us fill the pool, every little bit helps. You can donate in person, on the phone, or online at www.kentbc.ca/Fill_the_Pool. All contributors exceeding $25.00 will receive a tax receipt, and donations of $250 or more will also receive commemorative apparel.
2024 Annual Report
The 2024 Annual Report was approved by Council.
The Annual Report contains information from the District's independent auditors and showcases projects by department that were completed in the year, along with goals and objectives for 2025 and 2026.

Long Service Recognition Award
Mayor Pranger took a moment to honour District of Kent Chief Administrative Officer Wallace Mah who recently received the Long Service Recognition Award from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) for his forty years of service. Mr. Mah received his recognition pin during the CAMA President’s Dinner on May 28, 2025. 1) Slide into Summer – June 27, 2025
On Friday June 27, 2025 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre is hosting the annual free Slide into Summer event at the Ferny Coombe Pool (6820 Pioneer Avenue). Featuring an inflatable water slide, a variety of activities, hot dogs, and refreshing drinks, this event promises fun for everyone. Enjoy games, musical entertainment, and much more. It's bound to be a splashing good time!

2) Canada Day Prehistoric Party at Pioneer Park – July 1, 2025
On Tuesday July 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM there will be a prehistoric party at Pioneer Park (7167 Pioneer Avenue) to commemorate Canada Day in true Jurassic style. Immerse yourself in a day filled with dino-mite activities, Jurassic-themed inflatables, Canada Day cupcakes, a climbing wall, and a reptile petting zoo that will transport you to a time when dinosaurs roamed the Great White North. Bring your family, friends, and fellow dino enthusiasts for a day that's bound to be a colossal hit!

3) Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 – 100 Year Anniversary
On July 12, 2025 the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 will be holding a 100-year celebration at 1846 Agassiz-Rosedale Highway #9. The opening ceremony will take place at 11:00 AM and will be followed by family friendly activities, and an evening of music and dance in the Legion for adults.
To help honour the 100-year anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force as well as to contribute to Downtown Revitalization, Mayor and Council have approved the design for a second commemorative mural on the Northeast corner of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 building.
