December 8, 2025 - Council Highlights
From the meeting held on December 8, 2025
Mayor's Report
Mayor Pranger, Councillor Spaeti, and Councillor Post volunteered with the Agassiz Harrison Blue Kettle campaign, helping to raise money for the Agassiz Harrison Foodbank. Councillor Post also noted during his volunteer time he appreciated the sharp eyes of Public Works staff who took the time to pick up small pieces of litter in addition to their regular waste pick up.
On December 2, Mayor Pranger attended the sold-out Agassiz Harrison Museum Dickens Christmas Tea event, which she noted was a pleasure to attend thanks to the hardworking volunteers.
Council's Report
Councillor Spaeti highlighted that if any residents are still looking for stocking stuffers, the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre have socks that are sure to make a splash! Buy a pair of themed socks and all proceeds go to support the Lets'emot Regional Recreation and Aquatic Centre. Socks can be purchased for $15 at the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre, 6660 Pioneer Avenue.

Councillor Post noted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 11, the 56th Annual Carol Festival will be held at the Agassiz Agricultural Hall (6800 Pioneer Avenue). Free-will donations will be accepted for Agassiz-Harrison Community Services.
Councillor Schwichtenberg attended the November 29, Community Seeding event along the Agassiz Slough. This event was attended by ten volunteers who planted on behalf of Holberg Farms.
Friends of the Dike – Delegation
Laurens van Vliet, local resident and representative of the Friends of the Dike, presented Council with information on a proposed expansion of the dike trails as part of a three phased plan. In 2021 phase one was approved by Council, and saw select sections of the Agassiz dike opened for non-motorized recreation. Proposed phase two and three would expand available sections of the Dike for non-motorized recreation and open an additional 7.5km of continuous trail.
