Mayor's Report
On April 11 Mayor Pranger had a lot of fun participating in the Chilliwack Plowing Society Annual Plowing Match, where she placed first in the "Politicians Class" match!

Council's Report
Councillor Spaeti highlighted an educational video created by the Government of BC along with School District 78, and Feed BC, which showcases how local food is used in the Fraser-Cascade School District. On April 11, Councillor Schwichtenberg participated in the Haig Highway clean up, helping to beautify our District.
On March 28, Mayor Pranger and Councillor Spaeti attended the Celebration of Life for long time resident Carol MacKay. And on April 11, Councillor Post attended the Celebration of life for another long time resident Arnold "Arnie" Martin.
World Sepsis Day
On September 13, 2026, the District of Kent Municipal Hall will be illuminated pink to support World Sepsis Day. Sepsis is a life-threatening illness caused by the body's overreaction to an infection already present in the body. Approximately 30,000 individuals are affected by sepsis each year in Canada.

Celebrating Canada Fund
Mayor and Council expressed their gratitude to the Celebration and Commemoration Program, Celebrate Canada Component which granted the District $5,000 to help celebrate Canada Day in 2026. Mayor Pranger noted that this will help make the District celebration memorable and fun!
The theme for this year is Soccer Showdown, and will include an inflatable sports coliseum, soccer jersey crafts, food trucks, bike decorating, and more. For more information check out our Leisure Guide or follow the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre Facebook Page.
Welcome to Agassiz Sign Refurbishment and Garden Bed Enhancements
The Welcome to Agassiz signs located at the intersections of Haig Highway and Highway 9, as well as Morrow Road and Haig Highway are undergoing refurbishment and will be restored to their original appearance. In addition, the overgrown shrubs surrounding the signs will be replaced with young appropriately sized shrubs.
Lets'emot Regional Recreation & Aquatic Centre Fundraising
Funding for the Lets'emot Regional Recreation & Aquatic Centre has reached $650,000 only $350,000 away from our goal of $1 million!
That's only 70 donors at $5,000, 350 donors at $1,000, or 700 donors at $500!
By donating you can help ensure local children benefit from year-round swimming lessons, local residents have access to aqua aerobics, and individuals with disabilities have a nearby accessible pool.
