Our beloved Ferny Coombe Pool was built in 1978 and has become a vital community asset in the District of Kent and home to the Agassiz-Harrison Aquanauts.
Having taught thousands of children skills and sportsmanship through the District of Kent's Learn to Swim program, the Ferny Coombe Pool provides residents from the District of Kent, neighbouring First Nation communities, Village of Harrison Hot Springs, Rosedale and Popkum a place for family and friends to make memories for generations to come.
With original pool structure that is past the initial life expectancy, we anticipate that any significant structural or mechanical failure will be beyond repair. Without a swimming pool in Agassiz, it would certainly effect all of our communities.

Operating a year-round indoor aquatic facility will result in an increase to the operating budget. The cost to run the Ferny Coombe Pool (open for four months) is covered by user fees and subsidized by general taxation (approximately $135,000). The District continues to pursue other funding options to offset these costs including community sponsorship and regional partnerships.
