Recreation & Culture Instructor 1 (Up to 2 Positions)

Competition #2025-39

The District of Kent, located in the picturesque Eastern Fraser Valley, is offering an exciting opportunity in our Recreation, Culture and Projects Department for up to two auxiliary Recreation & Culture Instructor 1's.


Incumbents in this position act as the Lead Instructor for entry level recreation and culture programs in their area of expertise. These key individuals plan, organize, and deliver lesson plans/recreation curriculum in conjunction with the Recreation Programmer or Designate.


Program & Event Examples: Introduction to sport, art, dance, music, lifelong learning programs and the Agassiz Minor Soccer League. Demos or "Try It" classes at Canada Day, Family Day or other community events.


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of continuous work experience, or combination of both related education, training, and work experience, instructing children, youth and/or adults in a recreation or education environment in area of interest.
  • Sport Programs: Minimum of NCCP Community Sport (Introductory Level) and "Move to Play" Training.
  • Art, Music, Dance and Design Programs: Minimum of enrollment in an Accredited Post-Secondary Creative Art Institution or equivalent education/training with a professional association.
  • Lifelong Learning Programs: Minimum of enrollment in an Accredited Post-Secondary Institution in area of specialty or equivalent education/training with professional association.

Pay and benefits for these bargaining unit auxiliary positions is in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458. The 2025 post-probationary wage rate is $27.80 per hour plus 14.0% in lieu of benefits.

Fitness and Health Instructor 1 (Up to 2 Positions)

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience instructing fitness classes or a combination of related education, training, and work experience instructing fitness classes.
  • Current fitness certification and continuing education with a recognized fitness institution/ association.
  • Required Certifications: Group Fitness Training with an accredited institution such as BCRPA, CanfitPro, CFES or YMCA.

Pay and benefits for these bargaining unit auxiliary positions are in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458. The 2025 post-probationary wage rate for this position is $28.91 per hour plus 14.0% in lieu of benefits.

Fitness and Health Instructor Job Description

Clerk Typist 2 – Committee & Records

Competition #2025-41

The District of Kent, located in the picturesque Eastern Fraser Valley, is offering an exciting opportunity in our Corporate Services Department for a Clerk Typist 2 – Committee & Records.

 

Under the supervision of the Executive Assistant, and the Director of Corporate Services, the Clerk Typist 2 will perform diversified clerical tasks entailing the exercise of considerable independent judgment and action.

 

Key duties associated with this role include:

  • Assisting with all aspects of Committee meetings including set-up, preparing agendas, resolutions, typing minutes and keeping track of information on spreadsheets, forms and action follow-up.
  • Attending Committee meetings and advising on procedural matters during such meetings and follows up on actions and decisions (where required).
  • Preparation of correspondence and notices.
  • Retrieval and return of records from storage.

 

This position coordinates and has overall responsibility for the District's paper records management system including the creation of new primary, secondary, and tertiary file numbers. This position also guides and assists staff with procedures relating to the paper records management system including retention periods and annual records destruction according to Local Government Management Association (LGMA) rules.

 

Pay and benefits for this bargaining unit position is in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458. The 2025 post-probationary wage rate for this position is $35.53 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.

Does the District accept email and in person applications?
Commencing January 2025, the District has moved to an online application system that is simple and easy to use! This is our preferred method to receive all applications. Can I apply for a job competition after the application deadline date?

If a job competition is closed and reposted at a later date, do I need to reapply to be considered?
Yes, if a job competition you have applied for is reposted at a later date you must submit your application again to be considered. 
Will I need to complete a Criminal Record Check?
Yes, as part of the District's recruitment process, various positions require a satisfactory Police Information Check (PIC) as a condition of employment.
