Council amended its motion that when 90% of the local health authority population of ages 18 and up are vaccinated with both COVID-19 doses, a celebration will occur.
As of March 1, 2022, the vaccine coverage progress for the Fraser Health Authority for those 18 and up and having received two doses is 92%, while the progress for Agassiz-Harrison is 84%.
Council unanimously agreed that the residents and business owners in the District have worked hard and done their part during the pandemic to keep each other safe and it is now an appropriate time to celebrate and say thank you.

Councillor Watchorn thanked the Agassiz Fire Department for their hard work and professionalism and noted that February was a much quieter month for the Agassiz Fire Department, responding to less than half the calls received in January.
February can be summarized as the “firefighter self-rescue” month for training. Firefighters were trained and then practiced self-rescue by exiting through a window onto a ladder and then to safety. Commonly termed as a ladder bail out, it is an extremely important skill and very gruelling on firefighters.
Training of the new recruits is going faster than expected. The recruits and training officers have put in many Saturdays to expedite their move to regular duties.
In accordance with the public health announcement on March 11, 2022, masks are no longer required when visiting District of Kent facilities. The public gallery in Council Chambers at Municipal Hall is back to full capacity. Livestreaming of Public Hearings and Council meetings will continue.
