Mayor's Update
Mayor Pranger and Council attended the Lets'emot Regional Recreation and Aquatic Centre construction commencement on June 17. Councillor Post noted that it was "Great to see things are moving along, I can't wait to be there on opening day." While Mayor Pranger mentioned "It was good to have all of Council there, Tribal Chief Tyrone McNeil and Former Mayors Fisher and Van Laerhoven as well as representatives from Chandos and the architects Mike Hill and Karin Hung."

On June 21, Mayor Pranger and Councillor Spaeti attended the grand opening for the new Tourism Harrison River Vally building, housing the Visitor Information Centre and Sasquatch Museum. Mayor Pranger summarized "It is a beautiful building, congratulations on becoming the first gold certified accessible tourism facility in the Province." Councillor Spaeti added that "They are the first Visitor Centre in BC to have the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification gold standard.".
The Harrison River Valley region is a collective of communities including the District of Kent, Harrison Hot Springs, Harrison Mills, and all the communities in between. The District of Kent joined the regional tourism brand "Harrison River Valley" in 2021, helping to attract visitors to stay and explore the diversity of the region.

2023 Annual Report
The 2023 Annual Report was approved by Council.
The Annual Report contains information from the District's independent auditors and showcases projects by department that were completed in the year, along with goals and objectives for 2024 and 2025.
Mayor Pranger advised that "There is so much information in this report, I wish the gallery was full because this is information that all of us need to read and should be aware of. Not just the overall financial position but the reports that each department has put together to let the community know what work is being carried on."

Slide into Summer
Councillor Spaeti highlighted the Slide into Summer event on June 28. This FREE event will go from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Ferny Coombe Pool (6820 Pioneer Ave) and will feature an inflatable slide, pool games, pool crafts, and barbecue for the community. Super Valu has generously donated hot dogs and buns for the BBQ again this year.
