FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 7, 2021
Agassiz, British Columbia – The District of Kent has implemented changes to the COVID-19 restrictions at Municipal Hall as the Province has transitioned into Step 3 of BC’s Restart Plan beginning July 1, 2021.
Masks are not required at Municipal Hall but continue to be recommended for all people 12 and over who are not fully vaccinated, which is 14 days after your second dose.
Directional traffic flow has been removed from the reception area and regular occupancy levels will resume. Visitors to Municipal Hall are asked to be respectful in their interactions as physical distancing and occupancy levels are relaxed.
To reduce crowding in the reception area, it is highly recommended that residents requiring services other than financial transactions (all forms of payment and purchases), such as other services in engineering or planning, call ahead and make an appointment.
Council meetings and Public Hearings are open for in-person attendance with livestream viewing option still available.
If you are sick, please stay home. Call Municipal Hall at 604-796-2235 to arrange alternate service options.
Several protective measures will remain in place including: the continued use of plexiglass windows at reception counters, hand sanitizer at facility entrances, and enhanced cleaning protocols to ensure a healthy and safe environment for all.
On behalf of Council and staff, I want to thank residents in the District of Kent for doing their part to stay safe during the pandemic and to continue to do so by getting the vaccine as soon as it is available to you. Our community has been following strict measures that were put in place to keep us safe. As these measures are removed, we recognize that there will be varying levels of comfort and remind residents to continue to be kind as we all adjust to these changes.
