The District of Kent owns, operates and maintains three potable water systems:
Agassiz Water System |

Rockwell Bay Water System |

See our Toilets are NOT Garbage Cans brochure for tips on proper waste disposal.
We are committed to the protection of public health and safety by ensuring that all drinking water meets and exceeds the Canadian Drinking Water Standards set by Health Canada.
PLEASE NOTE: The Annual Water Test Results are published at the end of June.
Licences and Permits |
All water systems are operated under licences from the Provincial government. The water licences allow us to divert, store and use specific quantities of groundwater. We run our water systems under operating permits from the Local Health Authority, Fraser Health. The permits regulate the operation of the water systems and ensure water quality meets the drinking water standards set by Health Canada. |
Testing and Samples |
We send water samples to the Fraser Health weekly and a full potability and trace metal scan is completed annually. We also complete in-house biological tests on a weekly basis to ensure top-notch water quality. Fraser Health recommends anytime the water in a particular faucet has not been used for six hours or longer, "flush" your cold-water pipes by running the water until you notice a change in temperature. (This could take as little as five to thirty seconds if there has been recent heavy water use such as showering or toilet flushing. Otherwise, it could take two minutes or longer). The more time water has been sitting in your home's pipes, the more lead it may contain. Emergency Response Plans |
In 2003, the Government of British Columbia enacted the current "Drinking Water Protection Act". The Act requires that water purveyors have an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) in place that can be followed in the event of an emergency. The main purpose of the ERP is to provide a course of action to enable District of Kent Utility Operators to respond quickly to emergency events that may affect the continuous supply of safe water to consumers. |
