As social gathering restrictions continue to remain in place, Council has made the difficult decision to postpone the Kent 125th Anniversary Celebrations until Summer of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information, see the press release.
The District of Kent will be celebrating 125 years of incorporation in 2020. In recognition of this milestone, activities are being planned throughout the year. This page will be updated with information as it becomes available. You can also stay up to date by following Agassiz Homecoming 2020 on Facebook.
Agassiz Homecoming
The Agassiz Homecoming has been rescheduled for Summer 2021. Anyone who has registered and paid for the Homecoming Event will be fully refunded. District staff will contact participants to administer these refunds.
Upcoming Events
1895 Council Meeting Re-Enactment
- January 27 at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers, Municipal Hall (7170 Cheam Avenue)
- Council will be dressing in period costumes for a portion of this Council meeting to re-enact decisions made during the first year of Kent's incorporation.The re-enactment will take place during the delegation portion of the regular Council agenda, and the public is invited to stay for the rest of the regular meeting.

It’s the ultimate battle of the generations! Gen “X”, Gen “Y”, Gen “Z”, Baby Boomers and Silent Generation are all competing for the most steps earned between January 6 through February 28. Great prizes are up for grabs including a night stay at the Fraser River Fishing Lodge, an evening at the Harrison Hot Springs Hotel, a Sasquatch Pub gift certificate and activity passes to the CRCC!
Family Game Night
- January 29 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre (6660 Pioneer Avenue)
- Join the Recreation and Museum staff for a walk down memory land and play all your favorite nostalic games, free! From Pick up Sticks to Connect 4 to Marbles and jacks, we have something for everyone.
Heritage Week
- A celebratory week celebrating the District's culture and heritage, February 17 through 23
- Starting with family fun at the Agassiz Harrison Museum on Family Day, February 17 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Learn all about your community and take part in the museum's fact-finding hunt. Enter the FamilyHeritage Portrait contest using the museum's exhibits as backdrops.
- On February 19 gather at the Agassiz Harrison Museum as part of the Winter Speaker Series from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and hear a local historian speak about the development of the CP Rail and Agassiz Station during the late 1800s. Admission is $5 per person.
