Development Cost Charges (DCCs) are fees set by the District to recover the financial costs of development. DCCs are paid by developers and builders to the District at the Building Permit or Subdivision stage. DCCs recovered from developers are used to pay for growth related, infrastructure projects such as sewage collection & treatment, drainage facilities, major road upgrades and new park acquisitions and improvements.
DCC rates are established in the Development Cost Charge Bylaw as approved by Council. The DCC bylaw was last updated in 2017 and Council has initiated a review in 2022. During this review, Council will assess the rates to ensure they are in line with the current costs of development and construction. This makes sure the District has the funding to provide the infrastructure to meet the needs of development in our community.
As part of this update and review, key stakeholders including land developers and residents are encouraged to provided feedback to the District through a planned public meeting (details to be confirmed).
